Webster’s dictionary defines a mentor as “an experienced and trusted friend and prudent advisor.”
Why should you have one? Whether you are a teenager or a grandmother, a new or seasoned believer,
a good mentor will pull out the best in you and propel you forward.
Solomon wrote: “He who walks with the wise, grows wise...” (Prov. 13:20a)
Ask God to guide you, and then begin looking within your own circles.
When I was looking for a mentor, I asked a leader in my church out for coffee. It was pretty much a blind date, but over a few months, we got to know one another. It was a bit of a leap of faith, but it was well worth getting out of my comfort zone.
I love how my pastor boiled it down to such a simple thought: “Look around. Find someone who has something that you want and hang around with them.”
